Separate a missing tax form, a pay question and a benefits record before contacting anyone.

A former worker may need several different records, and each request should name the document. “I need access” is less specific than “I need the W-2 for this tax year” or “I need the statement for this pay period.” The public company pages reviewed here do not establish one complete former-associate portal or support process.
Match the request to the record
| Record or issue | Starting point |
|---|---|
| Missing or incorrect W-2 | Employer first; then the current IRS guidance linked below |
| Unpaid final wages | Employer/payroll records; relevant labor-agency guidance if unresolved |
| Plan or benefit record | The employer or administrator identified in the applicable plan materials |
| Private system access | Current employer instructions; do not assume access continues after leaving |
A missing W-2 has a published federal route
The IRS says to contact the employer if the form has not arrived by the end of January. Its current page explains next steps if you still do not have it by the end of February and addresses incorrect forms. Use the current IRS instructions for the applicable tax year and your situation. This general guide does not determine filing requirements or give individualized tax advice.
Final pay depends on the applicable rules
The U.S. Department of Labor explains that federal law does not require immediate final payment, while some states may. Its page directs workers to the Wage and Hour Division or the state labor department when the regular payday has passed without payment. Do not treat that federal summary as a universal state deadline or wait on an editorial reply to protect a legal right.
Prepare a focused record request
- Identify the document or pay period
- Record employment dates and the location needed to identify the job
- Keep the dates and substance of prior contact attempts
- Use a current official employer or agency channel
- Share sensitive verification information only through the appropriate secure process
Keep copies of the records you already have. Do not send this publication Social Security numbers, account passwords, tax forms or private employment screenshots. Counterline can correct its reporting, but it cannot retrieve documents, resolve a wage claim or act as the employer’s HR team.
If your question is about a benefit after leaving, the plan documents and administrator are more useful than a general employment benefits page. The part-time and full-time guides are descriptions of public materials, not personal coverage determinations.
